Disciplines shot at the Invercargill Pistol Club:

ISSF (formerly known as UIT): This is the only pistol discipline that is currently shot at Commonwealth and Olympic Games. This discipline requires accuracy and tenacity and is shot out at the club every second Sunday afternoon starting at 1pm

NRA – or Action: Shot over 4 matches, worldwide. Distances from 10 yards to 50 yards – a mix of ISSF and IPSC (without the movement) – this discipline requires accuracy under tight time restraints.

Most of your 6 month probationary period will be spent shooting NRA. This is shot every Sunday morning starting at 10.00am and Wednesday nights (during daylight savings).

IPSC – This discipline requires movement, accuracy and timing. This discipline will not be available for you to shoot until you have been holster trained and have been a member for approx. 6 months and passed all relevant safety tests as required by Pistol New Zealand. This discipline is shot every Sunday morning starting at 10.30am

3 Gun – Ran as above (IPSC) but using pistol, rifle and shotgun. This requires a high level of accuracy and speed. Shot once per month

Speed Steel – 8 courses of fire shot the same all worldwide. Fastest combined times wins. The club is in process of setting the 8 courses permanently.

CAS – Cowboy Action Shooting – Using black powder rifles, revolvers and shotguns, the Wild West shootouts are re-created. You will dress in period clothing to help with the old west feeling. This discipline is shot most Sundays at the club starting around 9.30am
